Today I choose to circle back to my favorite subject matrix from a few classes before since I touched on too much that day. This exercise helped me reflect on where I thrive, where I want to grow, and what I should steer away from in my career journey.

Where My Passion and Expertise Align

I feel the most energized when working on fashion and design, marketing, social media, photography, website design, and hospitality. These areas allow me to express my creativity, connect with people, and build meaningful brands. I love the process of curating visuals, crafting brand aesthetics, and strategizing how to engage audiences through social media.

My Growth Areas

There are some skills I am highly interested in but haven’t mastered yet—entrepreneurship, business strategy, advanced digital marketing, UX/UI design, video editing, tech startups, e-commerce, personal finance, and holistic wellness. These are areas I want to develop because they will be essential for launching and sustaining my own business.

Strengths vs. What I Want to Avoid

I recognize that I have strong skills in marketing, fashion, and design, which align with my dream of owning a business in the fashion or wellness space. However, I know that deep finance, advanced coding, and overly technical digital marketing roles don’t excite me. While I understand that financial literacy is crucial, I’d prefer to learn just enough to manage my business effectively rather than get deep into complex financial analysis.

The Activities That Energize Me Most

  1. Social Media Engagement & Content Strategy – Crafting compelling content, growing an online presence, and building community engagement.

  2. Fashion Branding & Aesthetic Design – Creating brand identities that feel cohesive, stylish, and emotionally resonant.

  3. Website/E-commerce Design – Developing online stores with seamless shopping experiences and beautiful interfaces.

  4. Photography & Creative Direction – Capturing visuals that tell a brand’s story.

  5. Event & Hospitality Marketing – Designing experiences that leave lasting impressions.

Next Steps: Investing in My Growth

Since I want to build a business, I need to expand my knowledge in digital business strategies, e-commerce, and financial management. To move forward, I plan to explore online courses, read books, and follow industry leaders in these areas.

An Outside Resource for My Future

One valuable resource I found is the "Foundr" platform. They offer courses on entrepreneurship, e-commerce, social media growth, and branding—perfect for someone like me who wants to build a fashion or wellness brand. Another great resource is Skillshare, where I can learn practical skills like UX/UI design, video editing, and advanced marketing strategies at my own pace.

I feel more confident in my direction after this reflection. My goal is to continuously sharpen my strengths while bridging the gap in my growth areas, making sure I stay aligned with what fuels my creativity and excitement.

I was very pleased with this activity in class as I feel more and more prepared to take on my future as the classes continue. Looking forward to seeing what is next in helping me navigate my future.
